Subliminal images - why and who are the individuals behind it?
by UnshackleTheChains ini remember about 5 years ago reading on another site about subliminal images in wt literature.
i honestly thought it a load of bs until i checked out one glaringly obvious image of a creepy skull in clouds within the knowledge book.
i was shocked and even showed my wife at the time who thought it was creepy.. so my question is why?

Thought bubble, thirty-plus years ago:
Everyone is deluded by their myth-based religions. Jehovah's Witnesses have a faith built on rock because it's based on truth.
Thought bubble, today:
There is so-called truth, and there are facts. I am a realist and opt for facts and leave myths, "truths," and fantasy to the storytellers.

The Writers Curse
by Coded Logic ini've begun to suspect this act - this will - this compulsory muse which i call "writing" is, in fact, the illusion of catharsis.
like a mirage shimmering far off on the horizon i gaze upon the unreachable waters of a quiescent mind.
and far too often i've trekked through these shifting sands of unrefined ideas and abrasive conclusions towards that placid falsehood.

Why is the Watchtower petrified by Higher Criticism?

The term, critique, was recently discussed in our creative writing class; I emphasized to students quivering with fear of excoriation that it is merely the following:
A detailed analysis and assessment of something, especially a literary, philosophical, or political theory. (noun)
To evaluate (a theory or practice) in a detailed and analytical way. (verb)

Once I put their hearts and minds at ease, I proceeded to . . . (fill in the blank).

Beards a-poppin!
by neat blue dog ini live in a pretty conservative area of the united states, and in the past two decades i can remember 2, that's right, two instances of seeing a jw with a beard in my area.
(not counting myself at times, 😜, and i'm obviously not counting bearded visitors dressed in casual clothes).. however at this year's convention, i saw about a dozen bearded jws .
this is like an explosion where i live.

In the old days, proofreading was laborious, like emptying a bathtub of water with a teaspoon.
We listened to a master tape -- essentially perfect material -- and checked the text in our galleys against that. The WT index for five years was a head-splitting exercise is an aim for perfection, this task handed to Brother Xxxxxxx and me.
It incorporated thousands of entries for the newly completed AID TO BIBLE UNDERSTANDING. I cannot recall the outside source of some data sent us, but I'll never forget "Ruffled Grouse" and "serving Jehovah with hardy (sic) purpose." Oh, yeah -- the running head, "Bablyon the Great."

What is known as "errata data tipped in," i.e., correction sheet glued in.
This is what we did at Bethel; ironic that this is on the back end sheet of Crisis of Conscience.

Stonewalling and the Governing Body
by UnshackleTheChains inwhy do the gb stonewall individuals with legitimate questions.
for example, they refuse to speak to investagative journalists like trey bundy, unless they happen to get caught somewhere walking about in the street by chance.. i remember the panorama documentary 'suffer the little children' where the presenter tried to arrange an interview with one of the gb.
i can't remember if the gb either refused or simply didn't reply.

I have a video interview of two Irish brothers who came to Brooklyn in order to talk with the GB about their concerns of unrest in Ireland's congregations. It was, I believe, after the Ray Franz incident.
The GB refused to see them.
